After a year of thinking I finally going ahead with a heating project, I will photo and put on forum next spring.

After purchasing a Webasto 5 kilowatts from a written off motorhome 4 years old I am putting together a list of parts required.

However I need a little help, as my boat is in France I would like to ask someone to publish the ducting holes sizes already in a Bav 38  2005 vintage. What size are they so I take out the right tooling with me. Any ideas gratefully received.

Hello,
I am on my Bav 38-3 in Spain now, however, year 2003. I have no heating on my boat, but was looking for prepared holes. From the main cabin to the front cabin 105 mm. Underneath the seats in the main cabin 90 mm and 75 mm. In some of the holes cables are already passing. I don't know which one are meant for the heating system. To me it seems not really prepared for heating ducting. I would go for considering the available ducting diameters and prepare the tools for this.

I installed a Webasto5000 two years ago on my Bav38 (2003) using all the holes already cut by Bavaria.
I cut only holes for vents.  I put them in the two aft cabins, toilet, dinette and forward cabin.

To avoid 90° bends just out of the burner, i fixed it on the wood tablet  under the stern step, behind the rudder

I used a 9 cm Webasto duct as main duct and 6 cm for branches, inside a neoprene tube.
If you like i can share a document ( with italian notes) to calculate diameter and air flow from WEbasto installation manual, the items used with part number and some pictures.

Thank you to all who supplied information on fitting diesel heating, I installed a Webasto 5kt with 100mm ducting.

If I had to do it again I would use 90mm ducting, 100mm meant I had to open up all of the original holes some difficult to get at.

The French use 90mm double skinned aluminium flex gas flue pipe at 1/3 the cost and a better specification, this from a fitter in France.

The most difficult duct run was ( Bavaria 38)from stb stern cabin to battery locker, a tip from the same fitter, fit a plastic bottle in end of ducting and pull through using a mouse.

Thank you again.
