D2 75 optimal rpm

Hi to all.
I cruise the above engine around 1800 and I am satisfied . I was told from a marine mechanic that because of turbo I have to run it at higher rpm . Do you have any experience on that ?

1800 is a bit low. Optimum is 65-70% of maximum (3000rpm for the D2 75) so +/- 2000rpm. As important is to periodically run for short periods at full rpm which helps burn of any residue in the exhaust system of the engine.
