I have lost power to my now navigation light. I have rewired from light fitting to the anchor locker but still no juice at the end of the old cable which has been cut back 2 m from the base of the pulpit. Checked the panel , all seems fine . Stern light works and is on the same circuit.

I believe bow and stern lights have separate power supply buttons and fuses on panel 301. Have you had a look at the manual in the download sections on panel 301 and 302?

On the ocean 47 a single button controls  bow and stern lights. Stern works fine. Manual no help. Splitter box or connector not visible when panel opened.

First suspect would be a corroded connector at the electrical panel, as you have 2 circuits on the same switch. So you have power on the connection. If the connector is ok, the cable is broken somewhere, which is difficult to find.

It would make a good opportunity to re-wire the bow lights. Fortune with Bavaria serial builds they made things easy and pulling a new wire through the existing cable duct will be a time consuming but not a too difficult job which is rewarding and likely less time than extensive fault finding. On our previous Bavaria 300 i also rewired the main mast cables which lasted for another 20 years untill we sold the boat

Replacing and pulling through the cable with new, tinned good quality cable does certainly seem like the best idea, and as you know you have power to the switch a guaranteed success (use a little cable lube to make sure it doesn't bind up - I had that problem pulling through a new VHF cable in our mast!).

You could use one of these doodads to try and trace the break, however, as much of the cable will be in trunking, it's unlikely to yield a result.

Finally, you are sure the unit itself on the bow is good? You have hooked up a separate 12V source to it to make sure it is, indeed, still alive?
