Hi,
I have Bavaria 38 Cruiser 2004 year. I need to replace the Toilet sink tab/shower mixer but seem the whole sink area is moulded panel and even the sink is a moulded block GRP as a single unit. Has anyone any experience how to refit that are ideally without cutting the whole section, GRP?
It it pretty inaccessible to the back of the sink to unscrew/screw the fittings for the mixer tab and not sure how to replace it.

I looked at some pictures of a Bavaria 38 from 2004. Basically the arrangement is still the same and quite standard for Bavaria's..access through the door underneath the sink. If possible remove the door, to not damage it.
I worked recently on this, as I modified ours to a factory option on our Bavaria 41 cruiser (2014).
The tab/ shower mixer is held into position with a bolt (metric size 10 or 13 if I remember well, you can see this on the new fixture)  You can remove this with a sparkplug wrench. This is the only bolt holding the mixer. To navigate behind the washingbowl, I used a mirror. Some good lighting and a lot of patience... Don't know if your boat is already equipped with the Whale tubing system, but this was quite easy to exchange.
Refitting of the new mixing tap in the reverse order. Place the tap, with already the supply tubes connected on the top. Place the "half moon" and the holding nut afterwards. Connect the supplies to the watersupply lines, done!

I too, did this job, and my word, it was one of the most horrid jobs I've ever done on the boat. As HappySailor says, it is one nut holding the whole, rusty lot on. Access is, however, a nightmare. Good luck!

I agree it was a nightmare. I had no access underneath the sink so I used an angle grinder.  :)

MagicalArmchair

How did you do it? Chop it off from the top and pull it through?

Well done! Makes a huge difference doesn't it?

Thank you all. It seems like doable for sure but not the easiest thing to do to say the least. Not particularly looking forward to it. MagicalArmChair's pictures sums up the task in hand :-(

Good luck! It looks so much better when it's done so it's worth the effort. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks Odysseus - you can't attach in quick reply for some reason, you need to press reply and then you can attach. It would be fascinating to see how you did it.
