I have just seen these photos on BOATSHED ... yes, they own them and I hope it's ok to post them here with due accreditation.

Does anyone know where I can buy the table?

Thanks.

Symphony

Don't know where to buy that particular one, but you can get high quality teak ones (plus the Lewmar mounting kit) from www.kjhowells.com

Boatname

Thanks but our boat is FULL.  Absolutely no space for the table you mention which is why I like the idea of the one in the photos.

Diga

I am very happy with our cockpittable from Cockpitbord.dk (www.cockpitbord.dk)

Boatname

But that appears to be mounted on a large moulding.

Thanks but I REALLY want the one in the photos  :)

Hi Boatname
I believe that Symphony is referring to this table which is available from K J Howells.
I have no interest in them just a satisfied customer.
See the attached of my table which I installed this May.

That's nice, did you use their mounting kit?

Genuine Whitlock Table mount Kit - Bavaria/Royale

If so was it complete, hinges, screws etc?

And did you take a chance screwing into the pedestal or take the instrument panel off to see what was going on?

I think it's a discontinued Lewmar product.  You may be able to find one in stock somewhere still - it's listed here http://www.sailtec.net/lewmar-composite-cockpit-table-double-leaf-enguard-pedestal-p-3207.html?language=en&currency=GBP

Thanks for tracking that down but £ 743.74 ?

Good grief, I think I'll go with Symphony and Mikes suggestion.

Thanks all.

Actually you will find exactly what you are looking for at cockpitbord.dk - in teak however....I have one like the one you are looking for at my Bav. 36

Diga

Like this....

Boatname

Ah, ok, I just saw the first couple of photos on their website. Thanks

Equally expensive though, isn't it?

Hi Boatname
Sorry about the sideways pictures my PC just goes not cope with the auto-rotate feature on my phone.
The kit I bought is as you specified - Whitlock table mount kit - Bavaria/Royale and Cockpit 3 leaf Table (610 x 710 open 355 closed).
All fitted reasonably easily (measure twice cut once principle).
It bolts through the pedestal so you need to unscrew the instrument fascia to access the inside to do up the nuts. I took the precaution of adding some ss washers on the inside to spread the load.
I just need to do some gelcoat work to tidy up where the old cockpit table was fixed.

That's brilliant Mike, thanks. The first ones I saw on Symphonies link showed the detachable table with the very clever mounting and arm but as I said we just don't have space to store that. I should have explored further.

We live on our boat for 5 months and with bikes, kayak, Tinker, sailing gear, scuba gear, mast ladder ... the list goes on ... hardly any space for the gin   :kewl

So I've sent an email to Howells querying availability.

Thanks to all for the input.

Symphony

Pretty sure you will find them in stock - he had them last time I was in the shop a couple of weeks ago.

Boatname

A quick reply from Howells " I try to keep a small stock, but sometimes Whitlock/Lewmar can have long lead times when we put in our order.  If you are only in the area for a short period of time, it is work ordering approx 2-3 weeks before collecting to allow for any lead time they may have"

Mike,

Do the screws ringed in red fit into captive sleeves from the inside of the binnacle?

Does the fitting ringed in green just screw into the pedestal and hang down when the table is in use ... pull down and clip onto the edge of the table when not in use?

I can't see that you have used it.

Thanks again

mikeiso1192

Hi Boatname
The items ringed in red is the support bracket for the leg of the table which is fastened to the face of the pedestal (I used bolts for this). This bracket has a screw adjustment to fine tune the level of the table. I think the manufacturer intended it to be bolted; access to the nuts for these bolts can be made through the hatch beneath the engine throttle/gear control.
The items ringed in green is a stowage bracket which clips to the bottom edge of the table when in the vertical to stop it banging about whilst the boat is in motion. When the table is in use it just hangs at the base of the pedestal and does not get in the way. I don't think it was fitted when I took my pictures.
The instructions provided were a bit sketchy so you do need to figure some of it out for yourself.
But all in all I'm very pleased with the result.
Hope that helps
Mike

Boatname

It helps massively Mike, thanks. I am the Frank Spencer of DIY and measuring 7 times and cutting 5 is my norm. :)

Now, I promise, one final question, I really like the way your table fits on the binnacle, you haven't quite got to where the binnacle starts to slope forward.

What size table did you buy?

Right.

Getting ready for haul out tomorrow to have my saildrive gaiter changed ... chatting to the mechanic ... another one who has never seen a need for it but hey ho ...

mikeiso1192

Hi,
Size of my table is as per my earlier post.
610mm long by 710mm wide when open 355mm when closed.
It fits just under the "contour" of the binnacle but above the join between the top and bottom halves.

It looks just like mine from Sheraton marine cabinet (£180 without mounting kit): http://sheratonmarinecabinet.com/epages/c6813606-9180-4f93-a01d-67854a5c6cfd.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/c6813606-9180-4f93-a01d-67854a5c6cfd/Categories/3

Someone painted it white, most likely due to weathering of the veneer. I've been told the current models are solid teak.

Sorry Mike, trying to read all this on a phone in a cafe  ::)

jonrarit

Many thanks for all the info folks but the off the shelf tables are far from cheap and outwith my budget.....so I made my own

Such a difference over the standard one with the front extension piece being removable and stowed on it's own bracket in the aft cabin.

Pictures attached

What do you think?

JR

PS to the original OP .... I have the original white lewmar table still if you're still looking for one ....going cheap :)
